Reliable I can probably agree with. Secure? Maybe if your users are
schmucks and you make no action to force them into smarter behaviors.
Don't overestimate the difficulty of breaking into a wired network though.
I wouldn't consider any machine outside the double locked well firewalled
server room as very secure. Cheaper I really don't agree with. It may be
slightly cheaper to setup but I'd expect it'd be more expensive to
maintain especially in an enviroment where you want lots of access points.
As said it'd be nice to have access points in the comfy chairs. What if
next month they move the comfy chairs 6 foot to the left? With wired you
have to figure out how to run that wire to the new location. Do that often
and things are a pain. The major benefit of wired over wireless now I
think is speed and response time. WiFi is great for web browsing and even
basic streaming media but for things like network gaming it can be
problematic.
