Maybe I'm paranoid but I treat all network interfaces as very hostile. You
never know when someone might compromise your network at any point. I'd
assume if they already have places for the public to 'jack in' that they
have a firewall and such already in place. Just plug a wireless hub into
that existing portion of your network and things should be cool.

I like to redirect all web traffic through a proxy and block everything
else besides that and ssh. Maybe if your not that paranoid you could
allow email and such to pass through too. That should be enough for most
public access.
