We opted for gig-e copper in our new computer room for a couple of
reasons. Once was price, fiber nics are still pretty expensive. One of
the others was ease of use. Rolling your own fiber has a bad reputation
for being a real pita, mostly because getting the ends right used to be
pretty tough. This may have changed.
