The list archives is not the same as a bulletin board. A list archive is
an archive of the mailing lists. A bulletin board is semi-active
discussion. With a bulletin board, you can post, edit, or delete your
comments on the fly.

Another nice part of a bulletin board is that there can be several
categories rather than two mailing lists that are hard to keep from
bleeding onto each other. There could be a section for random ramblings,
installations, general use, x11, distributions, local events, linux/os
news, etc.

Systems like YaBB get people hooked on online conversation worse than
crack in Comptom. I've seen it happen.
