I think that the reason why I wouldn't like a bulletin board is that it would be
one more thing for me to check. I like the idea that I can find all the
interesting MLUG conversation in one place (the mailing list). And I do find
quite a few discussions on MLUG to be interesting, even those that I do not
participate in.
The MLUG mailing list is really unlike anything else I have experienced. First,
people tend to be friendly and helpful, even to newbies. Secondly, the list has
just the right amount of off-topicness. And thirdly the off-topic discussions
are often very interesting. Another thing I like is that sometimes I am even
capable of answering the technical questions (usually the programming
questions). Another thing: when I wanted to buy a stereo system, and I had no
idea what or where to go, I really couldn't think of anywhere else to ask, but
you guys really came through for me.
I guess what I am saying is that I really like the present set up, and I don't
it to change too much.
