A service tech from Unisys told me he how he used to service the Army Reserve offices in St. Louis.  Whenever a hard drive went bad, he was required to remove the unit, then follow an FBI agent into the alley alongside the building.  This FBI agent would be carrying a sledge hammer, which he then used to pulverise the hard drive.  Really.
