So, I have this USB mouse and keyboard I was playing with on my laptop. The
keyboard I just plugged in (after properly compiling the kernel), and it
recognized and loaded appropriate modules. Same with the mouse, except I had to
add some lines in XF86Config to get X to look at /dev/usbmouse for input.
It works fine as long as X is started while the mouse is plugged in. The
keyboard I can hot-plug to my heart's content. It didn't even need me to restart
X. However, if I plug in the mouse while X is running, I get nothing. Is there a
way to make (or jury-rig) X to allow me to plug in the mouse when I feel like
it, without restarting X?
