I've recreated the maillog file with no luck....it still puts 1 user pop3
logs in my messages log.

I know it seems like voodo, but have you deleted and recreated a maillog
file? That's what I had to do once, like the maillog file created by syslogd
was corrupt or something. Strange, but after I re-created the file it
started logging correct again.
