As far as SWAT is concerned, I can not find any indication that it is even installed... Do I really need it? or will it just help cloud the process?

To get swat to work you need to edit /etc/services so there is a line that reads
swat 901/tcp
then in /etc/inetd.conf you need a line that reads
swat stream tcp nowait root /user/sbin/swat swat (or where ever
your distro has swat)

from a windows box. I don't have SWAT running, and have yet to figure out how to
get it runinng. I have read that I can make my own smb.conf file, and was
attempting to do it that way. I have not had any luck thus far in the box
showing up in the windows network neighborhood.
