Hey All,
I'm trying to get this cdrw ide drive I bought to work. :-)
>From what I'm halfway understanding I have to make linux think I have a scsi
writer installed.
1. I have to make sure scsi support is enabled in the kernel. How do I check
to make sure it is?
If the module isn't loaded, do I have to load it at startup, like putting
this line in rc.local:
insmod ide-scsi (I don't know what the correct module is to use).
Then what do I do? I read somewhere that I have to make a modification to
grub, that looks something like this:
kernel /vmlinuz-2.4.18-3 ro root=/dev/hda5 ide-scsi=/dev/hdd
(labelling the ide drive as a scsi drive??)
This _can't_ be this complicated, can it?
This is what I show from lsmod:
ide-scsi 9664 0
scsi_mod 108608 1 [ide-scsi]
ide-cd 30272 0
cdrom 32224 0 [ide-cd]
I have a cd rom drive and this cdrw on the same channel. Both IDE.
Does anyone have any pointers or tips to help me get this thing working
tonight? Argh!
Thanks,
Bob
