Hey all,

Does anyone know what the safe temperature range for an AMD Athlon XP is?
In particular, I'm wondering about the 1500+ 1.33 Mhz.

I've downloaded PDF after PDF off AMD's web site, and I read the "Very Hot
Athlon 2000, what to do" thread we had a while back. I believe that the
processor has a die temperature of 90 degrees C, but I'm wondering when it
approaches a range where system stability is in question. I've seen
overclocked Celerons shut down before, and it's not fun.

>From what I can gather, AMD doesn't publish this. If this is the case,
that's pretty shady. I'd like to know how hot my CPU can get before
applications start randomly crashing and lockups occur.

Any help would be appreciated. For kicks, check out some AMD processors
smoking here:

That's a good motivational factor for keeping CPU temperatures under
control :)

Regards,
Neil
