Ah, so maybe this is really the problem:  Nobody much really has an
account on merlin.missouri.edu, since it is just a glorified library
card catalog.  But presumably sshd could be configured on the other
end not to prompt for a password for user "library", since it is the
moral equivalent of anon ftp (without the file transfer, of course).
