Here's a real world stress test for those that might be interested. I had
a box that suffered a hdd failure so I replaced the dead disk with a spare
I had laying around and since the old disk contained my kernel, settings,
etc I went ahead and reinstalled. After installation the system was still
out of whack from what had been going on as it tried to deal with the
dying drive. All the EXT3 partitions were severly whacked up and had to be
ran through fsck several times along with some hand cleanup of damaged
files and directories. The Reiser partitions were in perfect shape and
loaded without any problems at all.
Could be random luck but it doesn't look like it to me. Given this is
RedHat which pushes EXT3 over Reiser I find it especially funny that
Reiser still handled the situation so much better.
