No, I am absolutely sure it is working. I downloaded and installed the
necessary linmodem software for Linux.

Basically, I know that the modem is initializing, finding a dial tone, and
connecting. Right when all would be peachy keen, it just fails. The logs
are providing little help at this point.

Here's what pppd is outputting:
