If you're looking to bridge less than 10 minutes, Staples has a 3-plug UPS
(plus 3 surge protected plugs) for $40 that supposedly runs your average PC
and 15" monitor for 11 minutes before going dry. I bought one for my
parents, and they've made it through one 30-second outage so far. They
charge more for some of their surge protectors...
One caveat - it doesn't work 'out of the box', you have to open the battery
case with a screwdriver (one is included) and hook up two leads to the
battery. Not a big problem, only important if you forget ;-)
