This is the point I'd argue most - they _are_ evil.

They dominate the market, so they think they can afford poor qualty.  They 
can't because there is always some competition watching. A non-evil company 
would be forced to improve on quality.

Not so Microsoft. They pour out their lawyers (talking about evil...) and 
either destroy or swallow the competition. The only competition they cannot 
easily smash is Open Source. So, following the path of deepest evil, they 
produce lies, like the M$-funded anti-open-source whitepaper that started 
this thread. FUD, of course.

And I am seriously afraid what happens to us when the hordes of lawyers start 
making use of software patent rights to shut down some Open Source operations.

Not evil?
