My UPS is a dumb one, it can only signal on-battery or on-line (i.e. not
on-battery). As long as the UPS signals on-battery, the PowerAlert
software will run its shutdown routine (beeps and messages). You can set
the interval before the final <shutdown -h> is sent. It is capable of
more I think (battery low, etc.), but that depends on the UPS's ability
to signal more.
