I recommend taking a shotgun to it.
Seriously though, have you called gateway? They still supported a PC we
bought from them in '96. Granted, not very good support, but they could at
least tell you if the memory is right. Also, careful not to talk too fast,
the guy on the other end will tell you to go to hell (the gateway country
store) if you confuse him.
