It used to take forever. When I first started with Linux, it was in the
1.1.x days. Almost no such thing as a module then. That box was a 486
33 DX2. That took 45 mins to an hour.
Now I'm using 2.4.x kernels on an AMD K62 450 and that takes about 10-15
mins including modules.
I'm still planning that dual Athlon box though...that should only take
about 30 secs :)
