I've got one of these too. I haven't had the CMOS clearing problem,
however. FYI, the onboard LAN works quite nicely in Linux; just use a
reasonably new version of the sis900 driver. It's no Intel, 3com, or Tulip
NIC, but it gets the job done (but I assume it's better than Realtek --
anything's better than those things.) Sound support is also in ALSA CVS in
the Intel 8x0 driver.
Anyhoo, ECS is notoriously low-quality and has been for years (same with
Amptron, PCChips, etc, they're all the same thing.) I laughed out loud
when I saw this in a press release for the K7S6A motherboard: "Featuring a
combination of rock-solid stability (for which ECS motherboards are world
famous) and the powerful SiS 745 chipset, the K7S6A represents the most
advanced solution in socket A DDR motherboards."
