Okay, well I talked to them about it and I guess bengal doesnt run mySQL
(Which I dont get, since its a large educational institutions webserver).
The client is installed but the server isnt running. I thought this was
weird since I heard along time ago on a thread here from OpenSys guys that
it would support mySQL and Oracle and probably Postgresql. *shurg* I dont
know what Im gonna do without DB access. My website just went in the
shitter.

Try adding "-h hostname" as an argument.  /tmp/mysql.sock probably got
clobbered, but if you give it a hostname (not localhost), it'll connect
via tcp and you should get in... That's assuming mysqld is still running
on the box.

Happens to me periodically, best way around it is to specify a different
socket file on mysqld startup and make sure it doesn't get killed.
