There's an upside and a downside to that.
If your ISP is up, odds are, your Email is up.  On the other hand, when I
used hotmail, back in the good old days before M$ bought it, I had to wait
for one of those rare times when both the UMR dialup server let me connect,
and coincidentally hotmail was working.  I finally learned to use Elm and my
UMR account and lived happily ever after, until I transfered.  I forgot
which *nix UMR uses, but it was well configured.  Their servers are the main
thing I miss about Rolla...
