I am not sure but if you are using the Linksys cable router, no one on the
outside world should be able to determine your computer's MAC address. Since
those routers are also a firewall, no one on the outside can even know your
IP address. The only mac address or IP address is the one that the router
gives out.

Since the router is actually making the connection to the ISP, the internal
computers can have any IP address you want to give them.

As for determining the MAC address, that information can be found in the
utility that is supplied with the router, You will have an IP Address to
connect to, (usually set at 192.168.0.1) you enter that into your computer's
web browser and you can connect to the router, thus making it easy to setup
everything from your firewall, to a DHCP server.

I asked my networking teacher who worked for MediaOne for a couple of
weeks, and he said they do not check MAC addresses.
