I'll point out that another block to meeting attendence for at least 2
people (and possibly many more than that) is the fact that all meetings
are held in the evenings.  Well, my family routine is such that I'm not
likely to go to a lot of those much less make a presentation no matter
how informal.  Lunch, on the other hand, is a completely different beast.
A year or two I floated that idea, but nothing really ever happened.

ps--the new B&N seems to have extended its selection of, e.g., O'Reilly
titles noticeably since opening; looks like the Geek Market (tm) is
starting to make its presence felt.  Or something like that.
