I know you of all people know my gender :P … as for DHCP …I chose to use dhcp because … as I understand it .. the airport base station holds the ACTUAL ip and then deals out another to the ibook .. at least that’s the way it was set up in OS9 .. I know the ip of the aiport .. which I sat to eth0 .. then (as per the directions on the Yellow Dog site) I copied that config to ifcfg-airport .. pico’d that to change the device to airport, then went in and named the network and then deleted the ip info and sat it to dhcp .. and from that point I’m stumped ..

Don't know what to say about the dmasound driver. Unless someone else on here has gotten that working, check on Yellowdog's site for support options or newer versions of the driver or the kernel. In a pinch, I've gone into the kernel source before, hunted down the .c files for the driver, and looked in there for an e-mail address of the people who are maintaining it.
On the DHCP issue, two questions:
1) Does it work if you use a static address? If so, it's your DHCP client. If not, it's your NIC drivers (or config).
2) What DHCP client are you using?

Dude, its somewhat complex and I don’t even know if anyone on this lists knows anything about the ibook .. however .. I can tell ya a lil bit of whats going on …
Yellowdog runs well .. except when it boots it fails trying to load dmasound_pmac …
Also .. we’ve tried to configure the airport card (as per intstructions online) but when we set it to dhcp, it fails on boot as well …
Any ideas?

Perhaps if you describe your problem in detail (ex: interface doesn't come up... or interface comes up but doesn't work, etc..) someone will be able to help...
