 I'll be glad to help. I'm a bit sympathetic to someone trying to run Linux
on a mac. Basically, there are some open firmware issues with the sound, and
how you boot into Linux. For instance, if you attempt to boot using the
utility from Mac-OS, you will not have sound. If you can boot directly from
startup into Linux, you can initialize the sound driver. The airport card
may well be a different issue. Both of the problems you describe may take
some detailed troubleshooting. You can't really tell how it's failing until
you look at the failure messages and the syslog entries.

Dude, its somewhat complex and I don't even know if anyone on this lists
knows anything about the ibook .. however .. I can tell ya a lil bit of

Yellowdog runs well .. except when it boots it fails trying to load
dmasound_pmac  ... 

 

Also .. we've tried to configure the airport card (as per intstructions
online) but when we set it to dhcp, it fails on boot as well ... 

 

Any ideas?

Perhaps if you describe your problem in detail (ex: interface doesn't come
up... or interface comes up but doesn't work, etc..) someone will be able to
