Those little points of tin are actually holes that have not only been
soldered through, but the board goes through a process after drilling
that tins the sides of the holes connecting the top side and all the
layers
(that have pads at that drill point) togather. So if you ground one side
of the
board against the brass it grounds all the layers too.
