Dude...7.6.1? 8.6? The 9.2 update came out a little while ago. Unless 
you have ancient Apple hardware, you should score an update or a 
newer version of the OS. There's also Mac OS X, but that's only if 
you have the speed and the RAM (lots and lots of RAM).

Yellow Dog Linux is great. Scott Greathouse and I put it on an iMac 
for the big MLUG Expo a few years back. Scott did most of the work, 
but the end result was a  machine that actually looked decent once 
Mac OS classic was hidden away. If only I could get the fscking frame 
buffer to work on my iBook....
