When I worked at Stephens College I had a Linux server running Samba and
Appletalk that I could connect from any Windows 9x or MacOs machine. At
Travel-diddly we also had a similar setup. Never had any problems with
it. Biggest problem was trying to get SuSE machines to share printers over
Samba. RedHat boxes it's pretty easy but SuSE for some reason makes it
complex. :)
