Jay,

I think that sounds like a great idea for a presentation or two. Your
project sounds pretty cool!

Subject: [MLUG] Presentation ideas

To kick off the new school year I've offered to do a few presentations for
MLUG talking about the stuff I've been working on lately. In short, it's a
new website: http://openshoebox.org. I don't want to give to much away
about the site right now, because I don't want people to think its vaporware
and when its done I want it to speak for itself. However, here is some
information:

OpenShoebox.org will be a site to share photos to rival photopoint.com,
imagestation.com and the likes.
It is an Apache module written entirly in mod_perl.
You'll be able to download, install and integrate Open Shoebox into your
site.
It'll be ready for a beta testing release by August 15th (I hope).
When released it will be open source (GPL).
It is fast.
The code base is completly non-bloat (I'm an anal programmer).
I'm pretty excited about it.

If it's okay with everybody I would like to do three presentations over all
of the technologies that I've used to create openshoebox.org

The three parts will be:
1. Apache & mod_perl
2. SQL and the Perl DBI
3. Template Toolkit (the templating system used to seperate code from HTML)

I had already planned to do the SQL presentation, but I'd like to push that
back so I can do cover all three of these parts to clearly show how they all
fit together.

Thanks,
Jay
