WE do not set the learning curve. That's one thing that pisses me off to no
end. Some things take some work. There is a distinct difference between
being able to calculate an integral, which has a learning curve, and
understanding what some programmer wrote when he didn't follow good
programming style.
People get the idea that other people make it hard? No, some things are
inherently difficult, because when you simplify things so people who do not
want to dedicate them selves to learning it you loose control or
capabilities. Look at how asinine windows is to troubleshoot. Why? Because
they hid every thing and made decisions that set things so they should be
right most of the time. All that so Joe average would not have to learn what
he was doing when he set up his computer. We do not set a learning curve, we
make it easier when we figure out what works and apply it. Look at what is
happening to RedHat. But at the same time, look what is happening to RedHat.
It's the most insecure Linux out there. Why? Because any one can use it and
set up a server. They don't need to worry about learning how to patch it, or
modify any of the normal settings. They learn nothing about security. Why?
Because you took the learning curve away. Without the curve, there is no
learning. To smooth out a curve you have to lengthen the time involved. They
don't want that, so they don't learn all of it.

Sorry for the rant. :-)

It's people like us that set that learning curve, and
that seems to be what pisses them off in the first
place. It's that we are smarter and we think of
things differently. Most of the time we find a better
solution...

BTW, You guys check your logs for how many different
systems hit your box with that .ida
(code-red) vulnerability? I looked at my logs and
just laughed. really really hard.
