Yes, yes I am. I've bought the domain openshoebox.com and found a place to host it. I'll probably buy openshoebox.org also. Here are my goals for the project:

To run a free installation of ShoeBox at openshoebox.com.
An extreamly clean code base (this is why it's taking so long)
Simple to use (so my mom can use it)
Load extreamly fast (usable on a 33.6 modem connection)
Look pretty (without compromising load time)

I started on the project over Christmas break. I ended up making a prototype. This was good because I found out what would and what wouldn't work. You can take a look at the rough prototype here: http://mlug.missouri.edu/~shoebox/

I'm writing it entirly in perl as an apache module using mod_perl. I've finished the book "Writing Apache Module's in C and Perl" and recommend it to anyone interested learning more about apache modules. I'm also writing it using object orientated perl. It currently uses mysql as the database, but I hope to extend this to use several other databases. For now though, it will require mysql.

I didn't have much time over the school year to really focus on it. This summer it has my full attention and I'm devoted to getting something released by the time school starts. Wish me luck.
