ln -sf /dev/scd0 /dev/cdrom(#)

As far as recording programs go I would have to
recommend Gnometoaster.  It is one of the best that I
have seen so far, and I think they offer an RPM.

I was surprised at how much faster the drive records
in linux and with fewer/no buffer underruns.
