It doesn't really have anything to do with KDE, but I use pine in an rxvt
window and it gives me nicely-colored text. It will call external
programs for displaying attachments. It is *excellent* at handling
collections of inboxes, including remote (imap) folders. It's very good
for imap.

It displays HTML in a very lynxish kind of way, well maybe not that good.
It displays underlines, allows you to click links (to open in the browser
of your choice), but it doesn't display fancy HTML formatting and it won't
show graphics in line. So, if I want to look at HTML attachments, I
usually open them in Netscape.

Pine is all I use for e-mail and I'm satisfied...
