Or just big, heavy, old UPSs.
Note: When 4 car batteries (12 volt) are wired in series and you're
hooking them up make sure the wires don't flop out of your hand and hit
the wrong contact. BIG spark.

How old is the UPS in question, by the way? We have had a lot of
problems
with UPS's older than 3 years. They tend to fail during extended power
outages. The batteries run out, of course, but the UPS never recovers

that state.

More than enough to justify using a *free* UPS. If someone will install
the software, that would be just fantastic.
Tell you what -- as part of the new donation extravaganza, I'll pay $20
labor to whoever installs the UPS shutdown software on mlug. Just tell
me
when it's done and who to pay. It's not a lot of money, but it
shouldn't
be a huge job either.
