How old is the UPS in question, by the way? We have had a lot of problems
with UPS's older than 3 years. They tend to fail during extended power
outages. The batteries run out, of course, but the UPS never recovers from
that state.

More than enough to justify using a *free* UPS. If someone will install
the software, that would be just fantastic.
Tell you what -- as part of the new donation extravaganza, I'll pay $20
labor to whoever installs the UPS shutdown software on mlug. Just tell
me
when it's done and who to pay. It's not a lot of money, but it
shouldn't
be a huge job either.
