Installing the compat RedHat 6.2 packages should do the trick.  If that
doesn't work check out this webpage.

Red Hat Linux 7.1 comes with GLIBC 2.2. I am planning
to install Oracle 8i (8.1.6 Release 2) on this Red Hat
Linux 7.1. I believe that Oracle requires GLIBC 2.1
and not GLIBC 2.2 which is the default for RH Linux
7.1. Now I want to compile and install GLIBC 2.1 . I
would appreciate all the help that I can get.
