I've been looking at the documentation and help files for several sftp
programs, but, strangely, none of them mention the ascii and binary
(image) modes of file transfer.  These were standard in ftp, but it looks
like maybe they don't exist in sftp.  Is that true?  I have the very
strong impression that sftp doesn't have an ascii mode and it doesn't do
CR/LF translation.

Tell me if you know something about this.
