Subject: [MLUG] Really Strange Hardware Problem

Hey Everyone,

I'm building a p120 machine, and I'm having a weird problem with it. When
everything is connected except for the hard drive, everything works
perfectly. When I connect the hard drive to the primary IDE controller,
video will not come on. When I change cables, video will still not come
on. When I plug it in the wrong way on purpose, to see if that is the
right way by some weird chance, it won't even boot.

Basically, everything works until I plug this hard drive into the primary
IDE controller? Is this a sign of a bad or misconfigured hard drive?

I really want this machine to work so that I can use it as a Linux
server. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Regards,
Neil
