Check to see if it's SCSI or IDE.
After that, make sure the kernel has SCSI support compiled into it. Then
make sure that the card is supported. Then check all the cables, pins,
etc. Make sure the settings are right, also.
If it's IDE, put it all on the same controller if possible. It makes life
easier. Again, check cables, pins, jumpers, etc. It's optimal to have a
CD-R on a separate controller (primary vs. secondary) so that you don't
tax the IDE controller during burning.
