You shouldn't need any.

If you want to receive mail and if you have your own DNS server, then yes.
Otherwise, you have to tell your DNS host to set MX records pointing to your
domain.
If you don't want to receive mail then you should be OK as it is.

That's the tricky part. I have no idea. :)
Get a static IP address, and your life will be so much easier.
By the way, I considered the issue of learning sendmail vs. qmail, and qmail
won. I just didn't want to deal with all the headaches sendmail is notorious
for. Qmail has been working flawlessly ever since. Check it out:
