RE: [MLUG] Ethernet hubs

Either of the options pointed out by Brent will work.  If you have a device
that can assign priorities and/or enforce them, assign everything that comes
out of your roommate's machine a low priority (or yourself a high priority,
which actually makes more sense, since YOUR traffic is delay- and
latency-sensitive).

If that isn't an option, tcpnice, snort, dsniff, etc. can help you either
alter your roommate's data stream so that it slows itself down, or - IIRC -
snort will allow you to nuke it altogether.
