Have you checked to mail file to make sure that every message is preceeded
with a from line?
If this is the problem that I'm thinking of, the first message is missing a
from line. Then a pop client errors oout when it can't parse the file.
Just find a message that has a from line, and paste it where the line is
missing.

Subject: [MLUG] IRIX vs. Windows E-mail Problem
I'm having a weird problem with an IRIX e-mail server... one of my seven
users is getting an error when she tries either Netscape Mail or
Outlook. Both were working previously. Here is the Outlook version of
the
error.
There was a problem logging onto your mail server. Your User Name or
Password was rejected. Server Response: '-ERR Unable to process From
lines
(envelopes), change recognition modes.'. (Account: 'bhcinfo.com', POP3
Server: 'bhcinfo.com', Error Number: 0x8000ccc92).
The user in question claims that she hasn't installed anything recently
or
messed with any system settings. Netscape mail's error indicates the
same
server response, and K-mail running on a Linux machine can't connect
to her mailbox either (though it is less verbose regarding the precise
nature of the problem).
I've got an "incident report" in to the company that hosts our e-mail,
but
I'm betting I'll get a helpful response from you before I get one from
them.
Thanks,
Scott
