Is it looking for that 'local' page using http? If so does it have to try
to go external to get the DNS? Try file://whatever

?

Subject: [MLUG] Netscape Problem

I've got this annoying problem with Netscape on Linux. I've got two
machines: machine 1 is a firewall/ip masq machine, the other is my
workstation. I can't start Netscape on the workstation unless the firewall
is connected to the internet. I've had this same problem with Netscape for
Windows. "Why the hell would you need to start Netscape if you aren't
connected to the internet?" you may ask. Well, I'm developing some PHP
scripts that run on the firewall (since it has apache compiled with php
and mysql).
Anyway, Netscape does start, but then it freezes up before even
displaying a page (even if the homepage is set to a local file or a page
on the firewall), which I count as not starting.
Thanks in advance.
