[MLUG] got my zip drive up - now my printer's down

I recently got my zip drive working (happy day) but now I can't get the
printer to work again. Here's what I did:

I disconnected the printer and hooke dthe zip up in its place

as per the mini HOWT, I installed the ppa module with "modprobe ppa"

mounted /zip with no trouble and had some fun with the drive

then I hooked up the printer to the zip's printer port, but I couldn't
figure that out, so I just unplugged the zip and plugged the printer
back in, figuring I could just do one at a time until I got it all
worked out.

No good. When I try to print an ASCII test page from the RH printtool I
get the following message:

Error printing test page to queue lp

Error reason: lpr: connect: Connection refused
jobs queued, but cannot start daemon.

I tried rmmod ppa 'cause i figured that was some kind of a conflict, but
it didn't work.
I was even frustrated enough to cross my figures and reboot, but that
(obviously) didn't help.

Anybody know what's going on here?
