Well, it's not executable then. Wierd. Also, make sure the /dev/modem is
linked properly, b/c I think the cfg scripts usually use that as the
device, rather than whatever device you are set to use. Try that, chmod
755 is what I know it should be. All my scripts on a default installation
are 755. So, the ifcfg-eth0 is probably off. Actually, network-functions
is the only file in there, other than a couple of links that isn't 755
(it's 644, and there are to links to sbin/ifup which are 777 it seems)
