* Next meeting will be Thursday January 20, 7:00pm at the INDIAN
  TRAILS County Library (See below for directions)

* This months presentation: Network Management with Linux
                            Rick Hicks, Network Design Lead,
			    Firstar Bank

PRESENTATION DESCRIPTION
========================
Rick Hicks, Firstar Bank, will describe Network Management with
Linux and SNMP, the Simple Network Management Protocol. Rick's
presentation will contain a brief introduction to SNMP basics,
the SNMP agent implementation on Linux, and cover a few network
management and monitoring applications such as MRTG, which is
used by the Network Group at Firstar. Naturally editorials on
the state of Network Management for Linux and other soap-box
oriented tangents may rear their ugly heads...

Rick Hicks is the leader of the Network Design and Architecture
Group for Firstar Bank (formerly Mercantile). Although Rick's job
focuses on routers, switches, and hubs; he also has responsibilities
for Network and Systems Management. Rick has been using Linux since
1995 but still plays a fool; claiming no particular knowledge of it.

This will be Rick's fifth presentation to the St. Louis Unix Users
Group - Linux SIG. Rick's previous topics were: The Caldera Network
Desktop Preview II; Using Linux in an Internet Firewall Scheme;
Networking Basics and More; and Basic TCP/IP Networking and Services
- - Part II.
