I think X 4.0 may handle this directly, but the current way to do it:

- set up X to use the MouseSystems protocol, device /dev/gpmdata
- set up gpm to use multiple devices (-M) and repeat (-R)
  put the -M between the parameters for the different devices.

I've used this a bit for using a mouse and the touchpad built into Acer
Future keyboards simultaneously and it works pretty well.
