[UUG/MLUG] Laptop screen repair (suggestions?)

Well, as I learned Thursday morning, diving uncontrolled face first from a
loft bunk onto the floor is a bad idea.
Unfortunately my laptop learned that lesson as well.  an elbow or knee or
something landed on it and cracked
the display.  The case is fine and the screen is fine, but it is the plastic
cover under the screen.  Some of the
crystal stuffs had leaked out through the cracks but it is all back where it
goes now, there are just big nasty 
scratches in the display (other than that the computer works great, i've
been using it even)

Is that something that can be fixed without ordering a WHOLE NEW monitor
assembly piece?  If so, any suggestions
where (?)  thanks
