I'm running Mandrake 6.1, and I would like to reinstall the system over
FTP. I've done this before (when first installing Mandrake) and I was
able to make a boot disk with the "bootnet.img" file just fine. Now, when
I make the boot disk and try to boot up off of it, the "welcome" screen
come up and I hit <ENTER> at the "boot:" prompt, but it always says "boot
failed." For some reason, it is failing to load the "initrd.img" file,
and/or the "vmlinuz" file. Is there something that I'm doing wrong? To
make the boot disk, I've tried to things:
dd if=./bootnet.img of=/dev/fd0 bs=1440k
and
dd < ./bootnet.img > /dev/fd0
The first one has output of:
1+0 in
1+0 out
The second one has output of:
2880+0 in
2880+0 out
I appreciate any help/pointers anyone can give me. Thanks!!
